TURTLE CREEK IMPROVEMENT
December 1, 2005
Work has started on the Turtle Creek Improvement Project. The work consist of clearing of all trees, removal of debris, channel excavation and lining the channel bottom and banks with rock riprap. The purpose of the improvement is to stabilize the channel from erosion which is endangering the foundation for the bleachers on the west side of the football field and to control erosion on side inlets. The work is funded by The Natural Resource Conservation Service as a part of the Corps of Engineers -Yazoo River Demonstration Project. The City agreed to operate and maintain the project. It is planned that the walking trail adjacent to the work will be resurfaced in the near future. The Mayor , Board of Aldermen and the people of our town appreciate these much needed improvements. The Calhoun County Board of Education and County Superintendent are also much appreciated for furnishing Right of Way for this project.
